La commune de Les Hermaux appartient à la Communauté de communes Aubrac Lot Causses Tarn. Elle est affiliée au Parc Naturel Régional de l’Aubrac et se trouve à 5 km du Col de Bonnecombe où a lieu chaque année en mai la transhumance. En outre, des hameaux sont rattachés à la commune tels que La Viole, La Rouvière, La Fabriguette, Le Mas Nouvel, Le Villaret et L’Ayrolle.
L’ensemble des hameaux et villages de la commune est réparti sur 17,59 km2. La commune comptait au 1er janvier 2021 : 99 habitants.
